AppleTree 1.0.3

AppleTree is an application for fitting multinomial models of arbitrary size to frequency data using the "General Processing Tree" algorithm developed by Hu and Batchelder (1994). AppleTree can read model files and data files written for the MS-DOS "MBT" program developed by Xiangen Hu, University of Memphis, Tennessee. AppleTree is freeware. Ball & Stick can render 3D molecular models consisting of (memory permitting) up to 32000 atoms (the demo is limited to 40 atoms) in high quality. CrystalMaker Demo 2.1

CrystalMaker 2.1 is a program to generate, display, and manipulate crystal structures in stunning, photo-realistic color. It features real-time, mouse-driven rotation, and interactive screen tools. This is a demonstration version of CrystalMaker 2.1. It is a fat binary: runs native on Power Macintosh and on your regular Mac. This program will read from any CrystalMaker-2 file, and we've included a selection of crystals and molecules here, plus more information about using the program.

GLMStat is a statistical program for analysing generalised linear models. It provides a macintosh interface but otherwise operates in a similar fashion to GLIM but with less features (most of which you probably won't miss). Includes and Online Help (under the apple menu) and a brief User Manual. Also has example data files for most examples in two of the texts. Further details in the "Read Me" file. Unregistered copies are fully functional but will revert to demo mode at the end of 1997.

MacCurveFit 1.3

MacCurveFit is a scientific least squares curve fitting program. Data sets can be entered into a spreadsheet window or imported from programs like Excel or extracted from text files. Arbitrary equations may then be fitted to the data and the fits displayed graphically. The equations can be defined by typing them as text and so the program is very flexible. There is also a choice of mathematical algorithms that can be used for curve fitting. Version 1.3 allows log-linear and log-log plots.

MitoProt II supplies a series of parameters that permit theoretical evaluation on mitochondrial targeting sequences and the importability. Finally, it provides the possibility to predict mitochondrial proteins harbouring targeting sequences. MitoProt II is available as a "basic" application, or as a "rapid" one. The rapid one needs 68020 processor, or later, and FPU. Both need system 6.0.2 or later. A version for unix machines is also available without using the graphic cabapilities.

The remarkable feature of Orbimania is its fast graphics -- it displays the potential field in real time. Furthermore, the graphical user interface allows you to twiddle physical parameters without entering numbers.

This is the 6.2 version of Planet C. Compute the coordinates of the sun, the moon and the planets visible to the naked eye. View and replay solar and lunar eclipses from 2 000 B.C. to 4 000 A.D. Converted to CodeWarrior source code and now available in two versions: for FPU and PPC. This version plugs a minor memory leak in 6.1 and includes nation borders in the maps. Otherwise it much the same as the version presented in Info-Mac Digest V14 #182.

PlastFEM is an easy to use finite element program, the program comes in an English and a German version, but the documentation is (still) written in German. It is especially useful for learning, but not limited in the size of the problems that can be dealt with. It can solve elasto-plastic behaviour of material in a plain stress state. It features a mesh generator and graphical post-processing. PlastFEM runs on any Macintosh with at least a 68020 processor and System 7.0.
